"derry" Definition
- the second largest city in Northern Ireland. In 1611 the Roman Catholic city of Derry, a port on the north coast, was settled by large numbers of Protestants from England who gave it the new name of Londonderry. This was the city's name until 1984 when it was officially changed back to Derry.
