"gipsy" Definition
- a member of an ethnic group (= a people who share a cultural tradition), originally from Asia, who traditionally travel around and live in caravans. Many people prefer to use the name Roma or Romani.
- (British English traveller) a person who does not live in one place but travels around, especially as part of a group; a member of the travelling community Traveller is used especially to talk about travelling people of Irish origin, but is also used as a word for all travelling people, including Romani people.
